Why AloePro Aloe Vera Juice Is Vegetarian Society Approved

Why AloePro Aloe Vera Juice Is Vegetarian Society Approved
Aloe Vera Range

Our AloePro Aloe Vera Juice carries the Vegetarian Society Approved trademark, for both its vegetarian and vegan versions. Here's what that badge actually requires, and why we thought it was worth having independently checked rather than just stating it ourselves.

What's in AloePro Aloe Vera Juice

AloePro Aloe Vera Juice is made from Aloe Barbadensis Miller, grown in the Jaumave Valley in Mexico. It's also certified for its aloe vera content and purity by the International Aloe Science Council, a separate certification that checks the actual concentration and quality of aloe in the bottle, distinct from the Vegetarian Society's certification, which is about ingredients and production process rather than aloe content.

What Vegetarian Society Approved actually checks

It's a genuine, independently audited standard, not just a logo brands can add themselves. To carry the Vegetarian Society Approved trademark, a product has to contain nothing made from any part of an animal's body, living or dead, which rules out obvious things like meat and fish but also less obvious ones like gelatine, animal rennet, and processing aids derived from slaughter by-products. Manufacturers also have to show they've taken reasonable steps to prevent cross-contamination during production, particularly relevant if the same equipment is ever used for non-vegetarian products, and for the vegan trademark specifically, no animal testing can have been carried out or commissioned on the product at any stage.

Why we sought it out

We could simply describe AloePro as vegetarian and vegan-friendly ourselves, but we want you to know exactly what you're buying, and that's more meaningful coming from an independent body that's actually checked it than from our own marketing. Having the trademark means the ingredients, production process, and supply chain have been reviewed against a fixed set of criteria, not just described favourably by us.

The bottom line

If you follow a vegetarian or vegan diet and want an aloe vera juice that's been independently checked rather than just labelled, the Vegetarian Society Approved trademark is what to look for, on AloePro or anything else.
